Water is an important element in order to sustain life from quenching thirst to This year the United Nations (UN) have themed this year's world water day "Leaving no one behind" which is the central promise of the 2030 agenda for a sustainable development. In 2010 the UN recognized “the right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation as a human right that is essential for the full enjoyment of life and all human rights." Below are global facts surrounding water;
1. 2.1 billion People live without safe water at home.
2. One in four primary schools have no drinking water service, with pupils using unprotected sources or going thirsty.
3. More than 700 children under five years of age die every day from diarrhea linked to unsafe water and poor sanitation.
4. Globally, 80% of the people who have to use unsafe and unprotected water sources live in rural areas.
5. Women and girls are responsible for water collection in eight out of ten households with water off-premises.
6. For the 68.5 million people who have been forced to flee their homes, accessing safe water services is highly problematic.
7. According to World Economic Forum, 100% of Kuwait renewable water resources originate from neighboring countries.
8. Around 159 million people collect their drinking water from surface water, such as ponds and streams.
9. Around 4 billion people – nearly two-thirds of the world’s population – experience severe water scarcity during at least one month of the year.
10. Over 800 women die every day from complications in pregnancy and childbirth.
11. 700 million people worldwide could be displaced by intense water scarcity by 2030.
12. 884 million People living without access to safe water.
13. 2.3 billion People living without access to improved sanitation.
14. 266 million hours, women and girls spend every day finding a place to go.

23. Almost 240 million people have schistosomiasis -acute, chronic disease- caused by parasitic worms contracted through infested water.
24. 14 000 children under 5 die in the Western Pacific Region each year from diarrhea because of unsafe water, lack of sanitation, poor hygiene.

25. In the Philippines, 1 in 10 people still do not have access to improved water sources. Inadequate and intermittent water supply, most recently seen in Metro Manila, can have serious health consequences.
26. Pakistan is the country with the greatest gap in basic hygiene between the richest and the poorest.
27. The lack of proper sanitation facilities in Nepal lends itself to 30 percent of the population practicing open defecation.
28. Cambodia is one of 18 countries where at least 5 percent of the population relies on delivered water.
29. Nigeria is one of the fastest improving countries when it comes to water quality, but 15 percent of people still drink from unimproved water sources.
30. According to WorldAtlas in 2017 China, USA, Mexico ranked top 3 bottled water consuming countries with 10.42, 10.13 and 8.23 billion gallons respectively with India at number 10 with 1.04 billion gallons.
31. Sudan and Egypt are heavily dependent on the River Nile, which is shared by nine other countries.
